League Matches

  • Should be played on scheduled night whenever possible.

  • If you cannot play on the scheduled night, contact your opponent NO LATER than ONE DAY IN ADVANCE to reschedule. Inability to make up the match in a timely fashion will result in a forfeit by team that could not play on regularly scheduled night.

Playing Elsewhere and on Different Nights

Although we would encourage everyone to play in Clare on your regularly scheduled night, you may play your league match where and whenever you wish as long as your opponents agree to time and location. Just remember not to schedule your match during other regular league nights in Clare (Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday).

Forfeits, Substitutes, & Warm-ups

  • Warm-up (5-10 minutes at most) is to be done prior to scheduled playing time, as soon as a court is available.

  • If you are more than 10 minutes late, and do not call your opponents, match will be a forfeit.

  • Substitutes are allowed in Mixed and Women's Doubles only. Please find a sub that matches the ability of your regular partner, no ringers please.

  • All disputes regarding substitutes, forfeits, and any other issues will be decided by the commissioner/rules committee.

Rain outs

  • Must be made up at some point before end of regular season.

  • Play begins with spin of racket to determine serve.

  • All matches are best 2 of 3 sets. If you get to 6-6 in a set, you play a tiebreaker, first to 7, must win by 2 points (7-5). Change sides every 6 total points.

Supplies Needed

  • A GOOD ATTITUDE! Tennis is fun, let's be competitive but remember why we are out there (Exercise, socializing, and fun)

  • Bring something to drink, towel, whatever you may need.

  • Balls are provided by the association.

Player Conduct/Line Calls

  • You and your partner are responsible for calling YOUR side of the net only.

  • If you can't call a ball out because it is too close, it is considered IN!

  • Make your calls clearly and loudly.

  • If the ball hits any part of the line, it is in.

  • Players serving  must say game score clearly and loudly before each serve.

  • Try to refrain from swearing, throwing your racket, or any other behavior that is unacceptable.

  • If a ball from another court comes on your court during play it is an immediate let. Replay the       point with server getting a first serve.
